This project’s aim was to design a switchable capacitor with two values (one half the value of the other). The capacitor was to be submersed into chemical solutions, particularly Chlorobenzene. This had multiple impacts on the end design such as
- Easy to wash and clean
- Robust for multiple use in labs
- Chemically resistant to very corrosive chemicals
- Ensure the amount of chemical solution required is minimised
The end results was to use laser cut stainless plates stacked into two cells that can be switch in parallel or one removed. The body of the capacitor was 3D printed in a specialised nylon alloy.
